Why do we not hold to the first cause arguments of Plato and Aristotle?

-Every finite and contingent being has a cause.

-A causal loop cannot exist.

-A causal chain cannot be of infinite length.

-Therefore, a First Cause (or something that is not an effect) must exist.

Your thoughts?|||Because Plato and Aristotle although brilliant men of their time were not entirely correct, our current understanding of quantum mechanics reveals that cause and effect do not always apply at the quantum level.|||"-A causal loop cannot exist.

-A causal chain cannot be of infinite length."

Why, exactly? Just curious. We don't know anything about t=0 of this universe, let alone about anything before that, or even if that makes sense.

"-Therefore, a First Cause (or something that is not an effect) must exist."

We need to accept the above two for this to make sense, and let's pretend we do for a moment. Why would a first cause necessarily be a god or even stranger, a very particular god? It's a perceived first cause, and that's all you can say about it.|||"-Therefore, a First Cause (or something that is not an effect) must exist."

Like the physical universe? Like an endless series of Big Bangs and Big Crunches?

Whatever First Cause argument you can come up with, it applies equally to some theoretical god or the physical universe. If you argue that some theoretical god has always existed, you can postulate the exact same thing about a material universe.

Not only that, but we can observe the physical universe directly, but can only infer the existence of some god. Cut away the unnecessary stuff with Occam's Razor, and all you have left is the physical universe.

More importantly, why do people keep bringing up the tiresome First Cause Argument constantly even though it's not much of an argument? Is the First Cause Argument itself something that has no beginning and will be repeated ad infinitum?|||But it doesn't necessarily follow that the First Cause MUST be your particular god as you define and interpret him; or that he listens to and answers prayers; or gives a wet slap about where you stick your penis -- you keep trying to claim victory, but you've still got all the work ahead of you.

http://www.wa4dsy.net/skeptic/firstcause鈥?/a>|||The chapter 112. In Qur'an deals with that; well , more les.

Allah, Almighty has no beginning and no end and nothing is like on to Him.

He, is not "He" is is a english language, created atom and every thing from nothing!|||Millions of people do not hold to that belief because it is contradictory to what they believe and what they were taught. It is true but not true enough i guess|||Because of a little something (sic) called 'quantum physics'.|||I don't no
