Religious fundamentalists are united by fear. Whether they are Christian, Muslim, or Jew, fear is the common denominator. They fear change, modernization and loss of influence. They fear that the young will abandon the churches, mosques and synagogues for physical and material gratification. They fear the influence of mass media and its ability to subvert the young with song, dance, fashion, alcohol, drugs, sex and freedom. They especially fear education if it undermines the teachings of their religion. They fear a future they can鈥檛 control, or even comprehend.
Perhaps it鈥檚 not surprising to realize that it is fear that also connects the myriad of nationalist, separatist and independence movements who also engage in political violence. Although experts, academics and analysts hypothesize about a multitude of causal effects that lead to violence and terrorism, fear is the|||youre kinda right. as a christian, i do fear many of those things. i would be sad if my daughters left the church for material gratification, i fear the negative influence the media can have on them and i definately dont want the schools teaching them things that undermine their faith. whats wrong with that?|||I cant speak for the others, but Christians are united by love, not fear.
Do we really fear those things?
Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell. -Matthew 10:28
And once we have humbled ourselves before God, the only thing we fear is that we are not going to take care of our responsibilities while here on earth. And part of that responsibility is not being like the world and doing the things they love. But to be a separate holy nation.

But even if some do fear the things you mentioned, better to do that and submit to God then embrace them and reject God.|||i would want to tell that these extremists r dangerous as long as we are not educated..... once the people got educated this element would be eliminated by its own as they ll see no one for them as followers.......... and i would agree would u partially that these people are one who helped to create this hateful climate..... we cannot blame wild fires for destroying our climate totally we should have to accept that we should also be blamed as we were unable to control it in initial stages........ same is the case here we are giving them too much coverage to them in the media to scare the people beyond the limit needed...... we have illiterate portions in human brotherhood some of which is trapped to them due to ignorance........ if we were able to educate them on time i think the problem would not have increased to such proportions...... so they are ones who ignited and fuel was already there uncovered to make a fire...........|||51% thought Bush was doing a good job.|||Fear hath torment is a by product of Law.

I compare fundamentalists and extremists to those of the bygone era where they were blindly led manipulated savages with no free thinking minds. I am not anti-religious, I am anti-stupid though.
