How dangerous are religious extremist and did they create this hateful climate we live in today ?

Religious fundamentalists are united by fear. Whether they are Christian, Muslim, or Jew, fear is the common denominator. They fear change, modernization and loss of influence. They fear that the young will abandon the churches, mosques and synagogues for physical and material gratification. They fear the influence of mass media and its ability to subvert the young with song, dance, fashion, alcohol, drugs, sex and freedom. They especially fear education if it undermines the teachings of their religion. They fear a future they can鈥檛 control, or even comprehend.

Perhaps it鈥檚 not surprising to realize that it is fear that also connects the myriad of nationalist, separatist and independence movements who also engage in political violence. Although experts, academics and analysts hypothesize about a multitude of causal effects that lead to violence and terrorism, fear is the underlying.|||The religion that represents the greatest existential threat to the USA is Christianity. Christian 'dominionists' are involved in a long-running scheme to take over the Supreme Court and all of the high-level elective and executive offices, starting at the grass-roots level, in order to overturn the Constitution and turn the USA into a theocracy. So-called 'moderate' cristians are being duped into supporting these efforts via political agendas under the guise of hot-button issues such as 'family values'. Who could possibly be against 'family values'? Imagine trying to run a political campaign where your main theme is being anti 'family values'. Yet 'family values' (and similar religious 'initiatives') is a 'Trojan Horse'... a 'red-herring'... garnering political support on the basis of a subterfuge. Christians are supporting one thing... yet in the end, they're going to end up with something they didn't ask for or expect... Old Testament Biblical Law... Taliban-USA.

Guess what? It's working.

"Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering."

-Master Yoda|||I am a Christian and I do believe when extremist, violent values infiltrate religion, it's deadly. But, one would be making a generalization to condemn religion all together, as some people answering the question have done. We have to remember that it's the PEOPLE and their adulterated thoughts that abuse religion and make it seem frightening and deadly.|||Well i dont like religon it's tearing the world apart and so many people have died for the cause of it

If this is what god told them to do then he is'nt what people make him out to be|||Dude when i talk to racists they usually bring up evolution and genetics as reasons why they think X or Y is inferioir becauase Z amount of years ago their ancestors didn't do D as well as his ancestors and also that old tirade about jails having more religious people in them and black people being more religious and that's why they are so backward (got those from racist forums).

So all in all i'm not hearing religious reasons for hate much... Except against gays and abortion.

Also about your theory on fearing young people abandoning mosques... Young Muslims are a lot more religious then 30 plus Muslims.|||I agree with you.|||I am a very proud Mother and Christian, and my children has

been taught about God and found him on their own,I pray

none of my family ever deny,s God and take,s the low road

because Hell is real and death is final.|||It isn't dangerous. No, they didn't create anything of the sort.|||i dont think they are the real threat but i do think the govts want people to focus on that instead of their own corruptness .. people are so easily steered by the media its amazing when u consider it ..|||Most certainly. This is not a recent thing though, it has happened throughout history.|||Religions are the traditions of man and not God. They should fear God.
