Dr. Carl Jung, (psychologist) theorized another
principle at work in reality - called synchronicity,
where unrelated events come together in
ways that defy our common sense notions
of cause and effect.
"SYNCHRONICITY. Jung coined this term for the meaningful coincidence of a psychic and a physical state or event which have no causal relationship to each other. Their connection may be so compelling that they "can no longer be regarded as pure chance but, for lack of a causal explanation, have to be thought of as meaningful arrangements. Their 'inexplicability' is not due to the fact that the cause is unknown, but to the fact that a cause is not even thinkable in intellectual terms."
If you have experienced this in your reality,
please share the story:|||Jung's key words are "...can no longer be regarded as...". He has a problem, being one of those who desperately, obsessively seeks meaning in everything, even when it is clearly not there: He just can't admit some things are JUST coincidence.
If there somehow SEEMS to HIM to be a compelling connection between two events, for some reason he doesn't really define, it just seems so to him because he is sensitive to this sort of mystical connection... then it must be more than dumb chance?!?!?!. And he wants a word to describe the FEELING that things are an AMAZING coincidence that we know is not cause and effect.
Whatever. I call it "coincidence" or "just coincidence" when there is no clear cause and effect relationship.|||Yes, many times. But only if you don't try to "force" it.
Also, there are many more trivial synchronicities than meaningful ones. But they're still synchronicities.||| Sure have, although for me it was more like Deja vu.|||I call synchronicity, coincidence with meaning. A happenstance where too many variables come together to be more than just chance. Example: 3 males are waiting for the lift club car, talking about girls hair color. Blond, brunet, blackhead. The door behind them opens and 5 girls come walking trough. All 5 a different color hair!! Chance?
Peace.|||I IS thinkable if you take acid and elevate to another plane where these things-synchronicities-are the norm. Spirituality and intellect exist side by side. If my mind can go there repeatedly at random times for decades and each time navigate myself to exactly where I left-off months (or years) ago, then it is a real place that exists.||| Ahh, another stem of the butterfly effect...everything is synchronized down to the last drop of rain...the straw that broke the camels back, and yes, even that grain of sand in the oysters mouth....if they have one. " Hey, I'm giving you pearls here! "|||No, it's just searching for meaning in random events. Shake up a jar of jellybeans or multicolored beads: they will not be evenly distributed, you will have clusters of reds or greens or whatever, even patterns. It's only because there is so much raw material that meaningless coincidences happen frequently.
To cite one example above, regarding the guys talking about girls hair coor, etc.: how many times and places around the world are a bunch of guys talking about girls at any given time? The odds are highly in favor of a girl or girls appearing at at least one such a place, and having some characteristic related to the discussion.
Of course it doesn't happen that way many more times, but no-one is going to be counting that--if you're standing at an elevator talking about redheaded girls, and no-one shows up, there's nothing to remember about it!
