Question about causal links and cause & effect?

Ok so is a causal link/relationship the same as cause and effect?





I know that this is the definition of cause and effect:


The relationship between one event (the cause) and another event (the effect) which is a direct result of the first event





Best answer will be simplistic and easy for me to understand, without all this jargon nonsense.
