And what does volume control mean to you? C/C?

Volume Control

There鈥檚 causal effect I鈥檓 sure.

Some cosmic physics equation

that equates volume with age

but only from the dial of age

as volume calls its members,

both young and old with no

in-betweens allowed at all.

I am an 鈥榠n-between-er鈥?now,

yelling at my teenagers to

tone down the volume

while leaving the room when

in-laws visit, grabbing remotes.

That鈥檚 either a cosmic causal

effect or just plain self

preservation on a cosmic,

volume control level!|||I use to listen to Jimi Hendrix while laying on the floor with my head between 2 big speakers, excuse me while kiss the sky- I still jack my car radio up although I don't sing unless I act like I'm on the phone. But yeah, I must admit I too tell my teenager to turn it down. Most of the time I can't hear cause I'm sure I blew a speaker or two- poor choice of words - you know what I mean. Great Poem!|||That was a cool poem and a bit funny as i too used to blast my music and when mom told me to do something i would roll my eyes and leave the house abruptly ' and now i tell my son to turn that sh#% down and when he rolls his I think to myself; boy am i in for a long haul as he just turned 13 ys old'..I love him and all mine with all my heart.|||If these in-betweens are found, would that not be utopia?,that which we seek?

Perhaps if this mid-ground is found, there may be tone with no sound or sound without color.

An even ground might be quite dull, and may lack emotion, from which many forms of art...gather creativity.

Did so enjoy what you have written here.

Take care,Gary.|||"Thumber time....and the living is easy...fish are..."

...er sorry

Yep the old ears get very acute sense of what is good and what is not as we get on in the years...we develope coping mechanisms such as grabbing the controls or just walking away.

Choices are important for the young and the old. good poem Chuck!|||Thank you and not so far from a teen

I do recall those years inbetween

Now mostly a more quiet voice in reflections

I tend to listen and heed other suggestions

OK I will admit crankin my music to 10

but just for me, not to offend.

I liked this.|||HA! Whooo-hoooo!!!!

There was a sticker on the back window of my car, "If the music's too loud, then you're too old."

Started to leave it up and play Rachmaninoff full blast, as I beat the teens off the line!

Good one, Neon!!! Good Morning!|||Hahahaha! Cracks me up! The subject of many arguments among the gathered generations! My ears constanrly ring from years of being in front of amps singing in a rock n roll band....I have perfect hearing but still like my music very loud to drown out the buzzing!|||What you say? oh now I hear you.........Cute poem, Riding with my 16 year old grand teen in her wheels is a volume journey I can do without..........Is it an excuse for no conversation, at times I wonder.

Thumbers, brazen hitchhikers........|||Your poem expresses what is called the "generation gap." The worst place to be is in the middle. I'm closer to the end, it seems, than you.|||Oh, doesn't this just touch base with me. You are absolutely right, the volume control relates to age. Every day I'm yelling for the volume to be turned down! Teenagers!|||LOL! Self-preservation it is. But there are times when I still need volume to really feel a song or a movie.|||http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ahEPve7qz鈥?/a>

You know you are getting old when you ask someone to turn that sh*t down.|||Volume control to me means NOT having anymore offspring.|||Neat. It is self-preservation. You know how young people are certain nothing bad will ever happen to them? They are that way about their hearing too. That is why they always say huh?|||Clever idea, neatly expressed.|||It's good|||we hear less than we should
